My question is this: Why do some folks have an already high-end pistol (like a Staccato or a high-ish end 1911 45 ACP like a Dan Wesson) rebuilt by one of these high-end gunsmiths vs having one of these highly-skilled artisans take a mid-range pistol - specifically a 1911 45 ACP - like a Springfield or a Magnum Research fully rebuilt?

Welcome capp, I've owned my share of 1911 type 9mms I'd sure recommend a manufacturer that uses the integrally ramped type barrel Much as I like Colts, their non ramped 9mm barrels have never been reliable for me with the different bullet profiles one might commonly encounter
