Iirc, the 1070ti is within a few percentage points of the 1080 in performance, but the 1070 is a decent bit behind that I'd spend the extra 40 bucks, personally

I was able to happily game for 8 years with a GTX 460 SE until it blew up, so I am VERY skeptical about the need to upgrade GPUs - FOMO (fear of missing out) is the province of fools, trust me, I know! Currrently I have the same setup as you and also a gaming laptop with an RTX 3060M The main difference is, modern cards - like nearly everything in the modern world - rely on gimmicks

my 1070ti currently goes for around $100-130ish on ebay It's price is so low with performance so not-bad at this point I'd broadly recommend it to others as a starter card But at the same time the current mid-range GPU options feel so meager and the high-end options seem so expensive, relatively speaking
